Hello! My name is Joshua and I'm currently a senior at the University of Illinois Chicago, studying Psychology and Latin American and Latino Studies. I’m fascinated by childhood development, acculturation, and prejudice, but I’m especially interested in how cultural and social factors shape growth and relationships. When I’m not in the lab, you can usually find me playing music at my church, working on my project cars, hitting the gym, or checking out new food spots around the city. My current goal is to pursue graduate school and work toward my dream of helping individuals reach their full potential.
Graduate student: Jin will be reviewing PhD applications in the social-personality psychology area to start in Fall 2026. For more info, please read this document.
UIC undergrad RA: UIC students can join the lab in a variety of ways. For more info about undergrad research in psych, see PURR. Email Liz if interested in joining the lab!
Non-UIC students: The lab does not typically take undergrad volunteers from other institutions. We don't have funding to support non-UIC students, and we don't want to take advantage of unpaid volunteers. If student can secure funding from their home institution, then email Liz to discuss.
Postdoc: Jin currently does not have funding to support additional postdocs, unless they can obtain external funding (e.g. NSF SBE Postdoctoral Fellowship, Canada Postdoctoral Research Award, or the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Global Fellowship).
Visiting scholar: If you are a PhD student, postdoc, or faculty at another institution and are interested in visiting the lab as a visiting scholar (i.e. hangout and work on some projects), please contact Jin. There is no funding to support a visiting scholar, but an office space can be arranged.
